Ground Zero Camp

On July 14, 2010, Untamed Student Ministries of Blanchard OK and Harvest Day PHC of Guymon OK joined together for Ground Zero Camp. Both of our youth groups needed a place to go to camp and with so many options that overlapped each other we decided to try and have one of our own. We never could have imagined what God had planned for our young people. Ground Zero Camp was based off the idea that it is all because of what Jesus did on the cross that gives us access into the Holy of Hollies. Without that sacrifice we would not have the freedom in the Holy Spirit that we know and have today. We had twelve campers plus multiple staff members and leaders all come together with one goal and that was to meet Jesus at the Cross or “Ground Zero.”

The things that God spoke and the power that we felt could never be described in any words. If you ask anyone that attended each service, they will all tell you that they have never felt the Power of God like we did. Many times, the Glory of God was so thick that it was hard to breathe. Chains were broken off of our young people and we saw many warriors rise up and come to know exactly who they are in Christ. Before the camp started, I had a vision of all the youth standing on the edge of the cliff trying to decide if they wanted to really jump over and dive deep with God or if they wanted to hang onto bad relationships, pornography, idols, etc. Many of them could not bring themselves to make the decision because they had never really felt Gods power in their lives. I am happy to say that we all made the decision to dive in and go deeper. After this week, we all can say that God is real and we all felt his presence like never before. The camp was started just to have a place to go to camp but God had different plans and lives were changed forever.

We all learned that our relationship with Christ is simple and anytime we get out of control or begin to have doubts about who he is, all we have to do is go back to Ground Zero and remember that God loved the world so much that he sent his only Son to die for my sins and because of that, I now have freedom in Christ.

Romans 6:6-11 MSG

Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer at sin's every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ's sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That's what Jesus did.”
