Gods Masterpiece

Ephesians 2:10 states that we are "God's Masterpiece." If you really think about it, we all strive to be his masterpiece. Have you ever prayed that prayer for God to remove anything that is not of him? I  encourage you to checkout a skit by the Skit Guys called "The Chisel." After watching that skit I realized I was praying the prayer but only wanting God to remove what I wanted removed. That, my friend, is called Control and I found that I have a problem with control. It all comes from fear in my life that I have not let go of. I am afraid of losing something that I love. I am afraid of not knowing what is coming next. I have to admit, it is very hard to release control to God but I am learning that it is for my benefit that I do. In order for God to make me his masterpiece I have to be willing to go through the fire. I have to be willing to be molded and shaped into what God wants me to be. Think about it! When a potter is molding a pot, he has to put pressure on the clay, sometimes cutting deep in order to get the shape he wants. Then when he is finished with the molding he sticks it in the fire. Not to destroy the pottery but to set in place or cure the work that was done. God wors the same way in our lives. He has to use pressure to shape us into his masterpiec. Paul felt this pressure in 2nd Corinthians 12:7. He described the pain as a thorn in his flesh. Paul prayed 3 times for God to remove the thorn but God responded by saying, "My grace is enough; it's all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness." You see, when we feel that pressure and then we feel like we are going through the fire that is the time we should really pay attention to what God is doing. What is God trying to set up or cure in your life? Yes it will hurt, no one ever said this thing would be easy but a Father always disciplines the one he loves! Paul understood that when he had a thorn in is flesh. It was not a time to be down and out but it was a time for Gods strength to come through. We must understand that when we allow ourselves to be weak it gives God an opportunity to come in and be strong. Next time you feel like you are going through the fire, don't look at is as a thorn in your side. Look at is as an opportunity to grow and allow God to set up or cure those things he put inside you.
